This is accomplished through cardio exercise and resistance training, as well as education. All sessions are monitored by medical professionals, such as, RRTs, PTs and PTAs.

In general, pulmonary rehabilitation provides the greatest improvements in symptoms, exercise capacity, and health-related quality of life of any therapy available for patients with COPD. In light of this, pulmonary rehabiliation is now prominently placed in virtually all major guidelines for the treatment of COPD. There is also strong rationale and a growing body of evidence for its use and effectiveness in patients with other respiratory disorders.
