Essential Oil of the Week - Palo Santo
Palo Santo has an earthy, yet refreshing fragrance. Often used in smudging, or burning of incense, Palo Santo is also a powerful and deeply spiritual essential oil as well.
It is often used by Shamans and other leaders in ceremonies. The rising smoke of the lit sticks is believed to enter the energy field of ritual participants to clear misfortune, negative thoughts and to chase away evil spirits. Palo Santo pairs beautifully with citrus oils in a diffuser and can be applied topically for the same effect as burning Palo Santo incense.

There are 7200 nerve endings in your feet! 🦶🏽 The following quote was written by Eunice Ingham (1889-1974) who brought reflexology to the attention of the west. She is known affectionately as the ‘mother of modern reflexology’. She took time to research and develop the zone therapy findings of Dr. Fitzgerald and developed ‘foot therapy’ in the early 1930’s.

‘If to every part and organ of the body we find a reflex in the feet, then the extent to which any organ is functioning properly can be determined, by the tenderness this technique reveals on that particular reflex. If upon pressure of certain areas of the feet the person feels pain, we know that corresponding organ is affected.’

🦶🏽 I love reflexology and my clients do too. We incorporate focused work on tender areas to address the whole person. Aromatherapy (essential oils) are incorporated to add another layer (so to speak) to the experience.

Neck sore? 💆🏽

I've said it before, lots of time on computers 💻 and devices 📱, in addition the cold 🧊 weather ❄️ has us all drawing our ears to our shoulders to huddle in and stay warm.

The Result: Sore, tight, stiff, and generally cranky neck.

Do you know the story behind the name and tagline of 7 Notes Natural Health?

I began my business nearly 6 years ago as "The Healthy Musician Institute". My focus was working with musicians and performing artists who have repetitive strain injuries. As the years progressed and my focus was further defined, I began incorporating a fuller spectrum of natural health offerings and sound therapy. I felt called to refine my business name as well.

After exploring and testing MANY different concepts, I settled on 7 Notes Natural Health. Through a collaborative conversation with my mentors and classmates, one simply said, "You're a musician, right? Why not Seven Notes?" It was a magical moment and the concept was born.

7 Notes Natural Health connects to my musical background, it references the 7 major systems of the body, the 7 main chakras, the 7 colors of the rainbow, the 7 days of the week, the 7 layers of the etheric body, and more.

Our tag line, "Hear, see, and feel true wellness" was gifted to me by my teacher, Dr. Bessheen Baker and I LOVE it. I hope this little bit of insight into the backstory of our name and tagline are helpful for you. I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!

Remember when I said that 2020 was going to be the best year yet... I've referenced it in my articles this whole year off and on. As I've reflected back on this year, the current public health crisis, social and political concerns, and much more it would be very easy to call "bull----".

I have no profound insight or perspective that might change the situation, or magically make 2020 a year of carefree blessings. What I can say is that I've really come to rely on the old adages about blooming where you are planted, making lemonade out of lemons, etc. AND in that I am evermore convinced that ANY year can and should (will?) be the best year yet. What these wise words teach us is that we need two things. One, to nurture and feed ourselves. Self-care is paramount. And two, that we need each other. We need community. Another "old saying" says that you can't pour from an empty vessel. So, we should be about filling our cup, so we can pour into other's.

As we bring 2020 to a close, I pose the following questions as a challenge to make the most of these last few days of 2020. how are you taking care of you? How are you caring for others?
